L'Atlante (1934): A classic and tender love story and a film of extraordinary lyricism and beauty. A young barge captain, Jean takes his peasant bride Juliette to live with him and his eccentric crew, aboard his vessel L'Atlante, which plies the Seine. Conflict arises when Juliette is seduced by the bright lights of Paris. Zero De Conduite (1933): This ebullient and satirical tale of a students' revolt in a repressive boarding school was banned upon its original release. It has since become renowned for its influence on the 'French New Wave' directors and for inspiring Lindsay Anderson's 'If...'. A Propos De Nice (1929): Vigo's first film is a witty and satirical documentary about the French coastal resort and its inhabitants. Taris (1931): Vigo's inventive portrait of the eponymous French swimming champion.
